- In the ending scene of the movie, Ernie overdoses on pills. He later calls and says he wants his brain donated to medical science. After that, when he looks out his window and sees children playing, he begins to get upset and tears run down his face. This scene can be upsetting for some people, but it is all resolved when he calls Donna and lets her know he changed his mind, and also that she's the only one who can help him obtain a normal personality.
