Routine and ordinary comedy of the Sixties praising the military life with very good Spanish cast

This is an amusing comedy with some dramatic elements at the end. It deals with military life of Naval Academy in Morin. As a Navy Brigade commandant called Carlos Torres : Alberto de Mendoza, has relunctly to leave his practice maritime mission to work as a boot camp drill instructor, and along with other officers , Caballeros Guardamarinas : Jose Rubio, Manuel Zarzo train to recent recruits : Alfredo Landa, Jose Luis Lopez Vazquez, Emilio Gutierrez Caba.

A diverting youthful comedy glorifying the Naval Academy, concerning new soldiers who enlist in the Navy and the officers who train them. It delivers silly situations as the usual pranks in the rookie soldiers as Jose Luis Lopez Vazquez, Alfredo Landa and Emilio Gutierrez Caba. It packs an entertaining, fun and bemusing screenplay by the regular Pedro Maso, Vicente Coello, Rafal J Salvia .The highlights of the movie are the sucessive jokes who veterans execute against the newcomers, along with the spectacular military parades and the real sea maneuvers full of warships and landings on the beach. Starring Alberto De Mendoza gives a nice and serious acting, accompanied by his spouse played by Julia Gutierrez Caba, being a choral film appear other protagonists as Pepe Rubio, Manuel Zarzo, Alfredo Landa, Emilio Gutierrez Caba who goes on performing, all of them deliver fine interpretations. Assisted by a good plethora of familiar secondaries as Paloma Valdes, Andres Mejuto, Jose Marco Davo, Manuel Manzaneque, Jesus Guzman, Lyis Varela, Jose Sepulveda, Francisco Camoiras, and many others.

It contains a colorful cinematography in Eastmancolor shot on location in Vigo, Marin, Pontevedra, Cadiz, Andalucia, Barcelona, Catalonia. As well as atmospheric and evocative musical score by Anton Garcia Abril. The motion picture was professionally directed by the prolific craftsman Pedro Lazaga and was shot back to back with Operation Plus Ultra who at the same time also made Lazaga, in which equally appears scenes of the sea academy of Marin, Pontevedra including military parades. It won Prize of the national Syndicate of Spectacle to best supporting actor : Emilio Gutierrez Caba and best cinematography : Juan Marine. Director Pedro Lazaga was an artisan who made a lot of films , especially comedies and many of them successful enough. Although he also made other genres as Peplum : Siete Espartanos, Wartime : Posicion avanzada, Torrepartida, La Patrulla, Drama : Otro arbol de Guernica, Rostro del asesino. And outstanding his boxoffice comedies starred by Paco Martinez Soria as Abuelo made in Spain, Padre de la criatura, Alegre divirciado, Estoy hecho un chaval , Vaya par de gemelos, among others. Rating 5.5/10. The picture will appeal to Spanish cinema fans and the enthusiasts of the known and habitual actors who usually show up in this films as Alfredo Landa, Jose Luis Lopez Vazquez, Manuel Zarzo,...
