Doja Cat was one of the biggest stars to perform at Coachella this year. The singer was in charge of closing out the musical extravaganza, which lasted from April 19th to April 21st.
The event was a colossal success, even if there was a bit of anxiety about the ticket sales. In the end, the three-day event went smoothly, and the American rapper headlined a star-studded night. Aside from her infectious performance, one of the biggest talking points was her singing Wet Vag**a while rolling in a mud bath.

Day Three headliner Doja Cat gave a thrilling end to the weekend’s festivities, bringing an extension of her Scarlet tour to her Sunday night set at Coachella. The Grammy-winning hitmaker last played the festival in 2022; she is the second Black woman to headline the event, after Beyoncé in 2018.
The 28-year-old Mc’s performance was a hard-nosed and hot-blooded spectacle, conceived of pure, unadulterated id. Offering little in the way of stage banter, Doja opened with a sample from Madonna’s biting 1994 anthem, “Human Nature” — then blazed through several tracks off her 2023 album,...

Key highlights this February on the essential, alternative streaming service Arrow include a second season of films from the legendary Brazilian director José Mojica Marins, a devilish double-bill from Spanish director Álex de la Iglesia, a season of wonderfully weird short films, Valentine’s Day done Arrow-style, and much more.
In February, Arrow presents a season of bite-sized shocks in the form of the very best wild and weird short films, including Smile, the extraordinarily imaginative and disturbing award-winning short from director Joanna Tsanis; as well as The Wyrm of Bwlch Pen Barras, a Welsh language folk horror film about modern Wales, rooted in the country’s rich mythology, shot on 16mm and featuring a score by Cian Ciaran and Dafydd Ieuan from The Super Furry Animals; and ab adaptation of the famous short story by W.W. Dario Argento Panico takes its title from an old interview where he said he didn’t want to create a sense of fear in viewers, he wanted to go beyond it and leave them in a state of panic. Its form is also taken from its subject’s past, following him as he isolates himself in a hotel to finish his latest script, something he frequently did early in his career.
I’m not sure that you really can isolate yourself with a film crew looking over your shoulder, but director Simone Scafidi uses this to frame his questions for the interview portions of the film. We actually only see about three seconds of him writing, and are never told what script he’s finishing,...

One way of looking at history is to perceive it as a multitude of narratives. While the way it is sometimes taught, for example, in school, suggests it is a linear narrative based on cause and effect, a more detailed look confirms the over-simplified notion of this approach or understanding. Especially when it comes to a culture that has been dealing with oppression, persecution and in general an authoritarian regime, it is not only recommended but necessary to reject any simplified approaches. At least, this is probably what any viewer will take away from Singaporean director Daniel Hui's latest work “Small Hours of the Night”, which, even though it centers around two performers, weaves a complex web of stories and timelines presenting a view on his home country's past, especially its handling of dissent and resistance.

Jokes about Singapore being a fine city – meaning that many seemingly small transgressions are punishable with monetary penalties – or the trope about Singapore’s now repealed law against chewing gum would not be lost on filmmaker, writer and film editor Daniel Hui.
He says that his new film “Small Hours of the Night,” which premieres in the Harbour section of the International Film Festival Rotterdam on Saturday, deals with small incidents, small gestures and small emotions. The little things that shape history.
And with just a telephone, an ashtray, a tape recorder, a rough corner of the wall in the film’s opening scenes, the treatment of Hui’s subject matter may be minimalist, but it is also quietly brutal.
“Hui’s film represents a rare political work from Singapore, one that tackles the city state’s iron-fisted policy towards dissent head on. The main character, who is an amalgam...

Stars: Julian Sands, Charlotte Hope, Aoibhe O’Flanagan, Pippa Winslow, Philipp Christopher | Written and Directed by Erlingur Thoroddsen
What are the chances that two films called The Piper, both horror films involving the legend of The Pied Piper, would come out in the same year? And that both would be hard to see? While I haven’t seen the one starring Liz Hurley yet, I did get a chance to see the one written and directed by Erlingur Thoroddsen and featuring the late Julian Sands in one of his last roles.
It opens with the voice of Gustafson (Sands) on the phone trying to talk Katherine out of destroying the last copy of her Concerto for Children. She tells him “It is evil, no one must ever know about it” before rushing outside to try and burn it in her fire pit. But something with glowing eyes intervenes, and she burns while the manuscript survives.

Doja Cat is now on the last two weeks of her Scarlet concert tour.
This is her second concert tour and supports her fourth studio album, Scarlet. The tour kicked off on October 31 in San Francisco and is scheduled to end in Chicago on December 13.
Though Doja Cat has been successful in her career, this past year has given her some obstacles to surmount. In April, she was accused of being demonic after she revealed a new tattoo of one of Italian philosopher Fortunio Liceti’s mythological creatures.
Later in August, Doja Cat released “Paint the Town Red,” which further pushed the idea of satanic influence in her work. Many listeners wondered if her lyrical choices were actually satanic or just a form of self-expression.
A month before, the 28-year-old lost nearly one million followers after she mocked her fans on social media for calling themselves “kittenz.”

What’s most shocking about the fact that it’s been 35 years since Mystery Science Theater 3000 began its run on Ktma in Minneapolis-St. Paul is the fact that it’s been only 35 years. Sporting a premise that’s gained added resonance since Covid redefined what it’s like to watch movies in isolation, the series has existed long enough—and in enough iterations—as to feel almost impervious to time, endlessly redefining itself as technology and media consumption mutate and grow, and, more frequently, as circumstances necessitate.
While the show’s hook—a human and their robots joke their way through bad movies—suggests a cynical outlook, its overriding imagination leaves room enough to enjoy both the films being watched and the jokes made at their expense. The classics that MST3K has yielded far exceed the limitations of this list’s format—to say nothing of the multitude of grace notes contained within,...

Doja Cat is defending herself against blackface accusations after teasing a new project.
The 28-year-old rapper and singer posted a teaser video featuring a normal version of herself as well as her Scarlet alter ego, which is her covered in fake blood. (Scarlet is her latest album.)
Some people online mistook the blood for blackface, and Doja had a very blunt response to their comments.

When she performed at the 2023 MTV Video Music Awards in September, the “Demons” singer took the stage with a group of dancers all dressed as her Scarlet persona and painted red – not black.
She pointed that out in a series of Instagram Stories responding to the accusations. Doja split up the sentence, “You Have To Be…A Very Special Kind Of F-cking Stupid,” over various photos from that show where it’s clear that the dancers appear red.

“Tonight we have special news for you: we closed all the exits. You can’t escape,” Claudio Simonetti deadpanned in his Italian accent to the enthusiastic crowd at the Somerville Theatre in Somerville, Massachusetts on October 3. Clad in something like a ringmaster jacket over a Deadpool T-shirt, a smile beamed across the maestro’s face.
The audience erupted into laughter chased by cheers, as they knew they were about to experience something special: the 1985 cult classic Demons on the big screen with a live score performed by Claudio Simonetti’s Goblin, a modern tribute to the prolific Italian prog-rock composers Goblin fronted by the founding keyboardist.

Much ado has been made about Doja Cat’s fourth studio album, Scarlet, being an intentional swerve away from pop and toward purer hip-hop. Part of what distinguishes Doja’s flow is her ability to weave fluently between not just singing and rapping, but various subgenres, and while the album certainly places a premium on her rapped verses, it also cycles through a number of stylistic approaches. If there’s a notable difference between Scarlet and Doja’s past releases, then, it’s that the songwriting feels aimless, almost incoherent.
Scarlet unfolds with Doja trying out one stylistic mode for two to three songs and then moving on to the next. The infectious opener “Paint the Town Red” is arguably the album’s most pop-forward moment and functions as something of a bridge between Scarlet and 2021’s Planet Her. And “Demons” and “Wet Vagina” sport menacing beats that support Doja...

The fundamental element of becoming a successful internet troll is being able to maintain the highest possible threshold for what it takes to tap out. It’s a game of getting the other person to hit the block button first. But that would never be Doja Cat, because frankly she could do the back and forth all day — and she has. After months of feuding with her own fans online, two opposing sides brawling in the trenches of the Idgaf war, the rapper is burning whatever white flag she could wave.

Doja Cat, aka She of the Many Spiders, has sadly let the sun to set on one of the quirkiest album rollouts in recent memory — even by Doja standards — with the release of Scarlet, her fourth LP. The 15-track album, which includes the singles “Attention,” “Paint the Town Red,” “Demons,” and “Balut,” is out now.
But what a web she wove to get to this point.
In May, she started tweeting things like “scarlet was here” and “scarlet’s watching” and “let myself heal, scar finally sealed.” She topped that...

Doja Cat has released a new single, “Balut.” The mid-tempo, brag-tinged song is latest track to emerge from her forthcoming LP, Scarlet, out Sept 22 via Kemosabe Records/RCA Records.
“Glass houses, I don’t really like to keep my stones there/ Oh, well, I’ll buy another property for four mill,” Doja Cat intones on the track. “The only problem that I havе and I’ll be so real/ I hit the stagе and lose the crystals on my toenails.”
Doja Cat has been hyping Scarlet over the past month.

At last year’s MTV Video Music Awards, Taylor Swift announced her Midnights album. And this year, the album helped her dominate the night with multiple wins, including her fourth for video of the year.
Swift is the only artist to win the top prize four times — this year it was for her No. 1 hit “Anti-Hero.” During the win that closed out the four-hour show Tuesday night, she shared the stage with those who worked on the music video: director of photography Rina Yang and editor Chancler Haynes.
Swift opened and closed the show with honors: She fangirled, like most of the audience, when she accepted the first award of the night from ‘N Sync, who earned a standing ovation from the crowd at the Prudential Center in Newark, New Jersey.
“I am not doing well pivoting from this to this. I had your dolls. Are you doing something? What’s going to happen now?...

There are few who rival Doja Cat’s witty antics and bizarre sense of style, and that’s why the internet can’t get enough. When she stepped on the pink carpet for the 2023 MTV Video Music Awards in, what we’re calling “floss and vibes” by the New York-based label Monse, it was the boldest fashion statement of the night.

Doja Cat is no stranger to the MTV Video Music Awards stage, having performed for the first time in 2020, then again in 2021, when she showcased her acrobatic skills. She even hosted the awards show in 2021.
This time around, the singer-rapper returns to the VMAs as a nominee, former winner and performer. Introduced by fellow rapper Ice Spice, Doja launched into a performance of her recent singles “Attention,” “Paint the Town Red” and “Demons,” all of which will likely be featured on her highly anticipated fourth studio album, Scarlet.
Dressed in business attire complete with an updo, glasses and red-heeled boots, Doja Cat opened her set with “Attention,” alongside her backup dancers, who appeared to be covered in red body paint, meant to look like blood.
Doja removed her blazer and glasses before heading into “Paint the Town Red” against the backdrop of a Manhattan-style cityscape. Finally, the performer let her...

Doja Cat changed the new album cover for her next album, “Scarlet,” since it resembles the new album cover of a German metal band.
Everyone has been talking about Doja Cat recently. Additionally, a few days ago, she debuted the cover for her forthcoming single, which startled a few people with its cover. This was primarily due to her style shift in her most recent videos.
Doja has, in fact, totally embraced an uncanny aesthetic that penetrates every aspect of her image, including her music videos and online persona.
Doja Cat recently debuted the cover art for her next album, Scarlet, which featured an unaccompanied purple spider and a little droplet of blood. Artist Dusty Ray was the one who produced the painting.

Just in time for the start of spooky season, rapper/singer Doja Cat has released her music video for the single “Demons,” and it’s one video that horror fans won’t want to miss.
Christina Ricci stars in “Demons,” which is essentially a short horror movie that casts the fan-favorite actress as a single mother who’s just moved into a terrifying haunted house.
The terror begins with a sleep paralysis nightmare, and it ends with Ricci and her kids fleeing the house Poltergeist-style. In between, well, Doja Cat’s demons roam free in the house.
You can watch “Demons” below, which also features an homage to one of the most iconic moments in Kubrick’s The Shining plus more references to Tobe Hooper’s Poltergeist.
The track is from the album “Scarlet,” available September 22.
“Demons” was directed by Christian Breslauer & Doja Cat.

Doja Cat has everyone's attention with the spectacle of her upcoming album, which has gone through a few title changes, but will be called "Scarlet," according to her September 2023 Harper's Bazaar cover interview. After dropping the LP's first single, "Attention," on June 16, the rapper and pop star told the publication it's "kind of an intro to what's to come."
"This new album is more introspective, but I'm not leaning so hard into that to where it becomes boring," she said. "So I want to give stories and bops. It's a nice mixture of both. I think this project is a really fun canvas for me to play with my rap skills and talk about what's going on in my life. But I'm not abandoning who I was and what I know about pop and singing and that aspect of music."

New Delhi, Sep 1 (Ians) Rapper Doja Cat has finally dropped her new ‘horror’-themed single ‘Demons’ with a music video showcasing her as a dark and shadowy presence. The song is a weird mix of gangsta rap, trip hop, electronic with some R&b elements.
Doja Cat (27) had announced a few days ago that ‘Demons’ will have a horror aesthetic. In the song, she is dressed up in the form of a black devil demon cat. A song about conquering demons, the rapper has joined forces with actress Christina Ricci for the video, and gives her a good scare.
The music production is huge with a lot of focus on the booming bass, however it is also a bit distracting as it tends to take from the groove. The sound design in general is great, however, and the vocals of Doja Cat are easily able to shine through.

Doja Cat has been unleashing her demons all summer.
The Grammy-winning artist released the third single from her forthcoming Scarlet album on Friday, and brought in Nineties scream queen Christina Ricci to help usher in the accompanying music video.

Doja Cat is embracing her demons for the third pre-release track from her fourth studio album, Scarlet. The song comes on the heels of “Attention,” which ushered in the L.A. rapper and singer’s new era back in June, and “Paint the Town Red,” which recently made history as the first solo female rap song to top Spotify’s U.S. chart.
The three-minute “Demons” kicks off with a heavy, distorted beat and menacingly looped string sample, further fulfilling Doja Cat’s promise that her latest album will eschew pop for a harder-edged hip-hop sound: “How my demons look/Now that my pockets full?” Later, she sarcastically quips in painstaking enunciation so there’s no confusion, “Lots of people that were sleeping say I rap now.”

Doja Cat’s new album, Scarlet, is already getting a makeover. Since launching in 2020, Cauldron Films has quickly established itself as a boutique label to watch for cult film fans. In addition to unearthing and restoring obscurities like The Crimes of the Black Cat, American Rickshaw, and Frankenstein ’80, they’ve secured a few heavy hitters. Their most recognizable title to date is Lucio Fulci’s City of the Living Dead (originally released in the US as The Gates of Hell). Following an exclusive slipcase edition last year, a standard retail version of the 4K Ultra HD + Blu-ray set is available this week.
The 1980 Italian horror film is significant for kicking off Fulci’s thematically connected Gates of Hell trilogy, followed by The Beyond and The House by the Cemetery the next year. Developed in the wake of Fulci’s success with Zombie in 1979, City of the Living Dead features more undead ghouls but this time as accoutrements rather than a centerpiece.

"Star Trek: Enterprise" struggled throughout its four-season run. A prequel set in the 22nd century, before the Federation's founding, the series often felt like "Star Trek" was stuck in the past in more ways than one. The first two seasons hardly broke from the typical "Trek" formula despite the unfamiliar setting and the show bled viewership. Shake-ups in seasons 3 and 4 weren't enough to save the series. "Enterprise" was the first "Star Trek" since the original to not reach seven seasons and it put the franchise on hiatus, cementing its black sheep reputation. It didn't help that the series finale, "These Are The Voyages..." was a clunker.
The episode is centered around "Star Trek: The Next Generation" episode, "The Pegasus." In that episode, Will Riker's (Jonathan Frakes) former commanding officer Admiral Pressman (Terry O'Quinn) comes to the Enterprise to lead a recovery mission of his old ship, the source of the episode's title.

Claudio Simonetti’s Goblin Hitting the Road to Play Live ‘Demons’ Score Across the Country This Fall
Following last year’s Suspiria tour, Claudio Simonetti’s Goblin is hitting the road this fall to perform the live score to Demons followed by a set of other classic Goblin compositions across North America.
Goblin founding keyboardist Claudio Simonetti plays with a new manifestation of the prolific Italian instrumental act that includes guitarist Daniele Amador, bassist Cecilia Nappo, and drummer Federico Maragoni.
In addition to the Demons dates, the band will play a best-of set at Eerie Horror Fest in Pennsylvania, while the tour’s Canadian stops will feature a Suspiria live score.
Produced by master of horror Dario Argento, 1985’s Demons is directed by Lamberto Bava from a script he co-wrote with Argento, Dardano Sacchetti (The Beyond), and Franco Ferrini (Phenomena). Simonetti composed the original soundtrack, which he has updated with his live band.

Horror Feature “My (Best Friend’S) Head Exploded” to Premiere in June: "Writer/Director Scott Bryan’s puppet-filled existential horror feature, “My (Best Friend’S) Head Exploded,” will have its two-weekend world premiere this June.
“My (Best Friend’s) Head Exploded” is a rebellious, existential, terrifyingly messy puppet feature made out of material things by actual people. It tells the story of Lydia, a coming-of-ageless vampire forced to deal with the loss of her best friend, Sam, after the pair conjures a moment of complete clarity which causes Sam’s head to explode.
In the aftermath, Lydia must contend with old ghosts, generational trauma, oppressive authority figures, and the confusing fear of infinity to set reality right and save her own sanity.
“I love making weird stuff that a studio would be afraid of and a computer couldn’t replicate,” Bryan said.
