Lot of Atlanta Locals in this movie
Jenn_Tracz12 November 2006
It's a clean movie and was fun to be in. Lassiter High School played the majority of the parts--both the "Big, Good band" which the "bad news bears" type of band was trying to beat--our dress uniforms had "L"'s that dropped off the cummerbund in those days, hence the name: Larchmont. . . all the scenes I worked on were at Oglethorpe or St. Pius--not Grady but I'm sure they did scenes there too.

One of the LHS drum majors was featured in the film which was fun. . . he was a character on the "bad band" side. . . It reads "Jess Sisk" as Maddog but it should be JEFF SISK. . . it's a guy. And his name is Jeff.

I remember hanging out with Fred Wilbur who is also in this movie (Not just Steve Landisburg) and he was very sweet!

It's certainly worth a watch, especially if you grew up in East Cobb county and/or went to Lassiter in 1986/87

Warning: Spoilers
I went to Medow Creek Highschool and was in this movie playing the triton's the scene was the band was on the street yelling up to the window of the character who played in Barney Miller.Cheering hoping to get him to come back to leading the band. So the only bands that were used in the movie was NOT Lassiter Highschool in Marietta Georgia. I'm posting a 5 on this movie because i never actually seen the movie. It was made by HBO im not saying it was good or bad. A lot of scenes from the movie did get cut out. Since we were from Lil Burn Georgia. Just outside of Norcross Georgia. This scene was filmed in downtown Atlanta. If anyone wishes to contact me in reference to being in this movie please contact me at my email which is djlarrylove29445@yahoo.com

We we're there!

My family was extras in this movie and it was a lot of fun. My two kids attended Lassiter High School in Marietta, GA and the Lassiter band was featured in the movie. In between takes Steve Landesberg would come to the front of the bleachers and entertain us. They also had drawings so we could win merchandise..we won an orange jumpsuit and a bottle of Bullseye BBQ sauce. We were told out of all the scenes they may have gotten 5 minutes of things they could use. It was a great experience.

My Experience In "Leader Of The Band".
DgrWoman16 April 1999
In November, 1986, I was proud to be in the final part of this great movie-"Leader Of The Band". I was "very plump" in those days and was dressed in my "Henry Grady High School Band Booster Look", which consisted of an official T-shirt, jeans, shakers, painter's cap and sneakers. If you watch the movie, look for me real hard, because the final scene was filmed at Grady Stadium here in Atlanta, Georgia USA and listen for my cute, squeeky voice saying that immortal line: "What's Going On here?!? What's Going On?!?" Betsy Goodrich is the actress and singer who currently plays the role of Danger Woman, The Karaoke Crimefighter. She lives in Atlanta, Georgia, USA
