Jane Neill ( Vivian Martin ) tries to raise her twin sister when their father leaves them. Jane is a stenographer and searches for a well-paying position so she can retrieve the twins from their temporary residence at an orphanage, and lands a job with irritable millionaire playwright David Lyman ( Spottiswoode Aitken ), who is having difficulty with his latest work. After refusing the marriage proposal of hard-working Micky Donovan ( Casson Ferguson ), who operates a lunch wagon, Jane falls in love with Lyman's nephew Monty ( Niles Welch ), who is pursued by fortune-hunting Nita Arliss ( Byrdine Zuber ). When Monty's friends at his party destroy Lyman's model stage, which he used for his writing, Lyman angrily disinherits Monty and dies of a heart attack, having secretly willed his fortune to Jane. Jane encourages Monty to live modestly and get a job, but soon realizes he will never change, she destroys the will so that Monty will receive his father's fortune, and Jane returns to the ever loyal Micky.
