Thumbs down to this Walter Catlett short for confusing obnoxiousness for humor, especially concerning his brother-in-law Monte Collins and how his wife, Vivien Oakland, tolerates her brother's behavior. Practical jokes are one thing, but the method that Collins uses is tiresome in any era. The stereotype of lazy in-laws in these comedies is preferable to Collins' character who can dish it out and not take it.
The premise of the comedy is Oakland winning the most lottery and Catlett quitting his job, and how Oakland takes control of the house as their life changes. This could have been a funny premise, but you're supposed to laugh at comedy, not sit there stone faced. It is funny to watch Catlett try to make a cake while listening to the radio as a little kid keeps changing the channel. Basically a mixing bowl filled with the wrong ingredients and unfortunately a short stack of sour pancakes. Popular comic Billy Gilbert has a teeny part.
