Interesting One-Shot

After the doctor has fitted the patient with glasses that blind him, he orders his dog, who has gotten drunk, to lead the man home.

That's a sentence I won't have much cause to write again. It's a nicely filled gag comedy, with a good thrill element, some nice voice work by Mel Blanc, and some lovely background work by Clark Watson. Technically this is a fine cartoon by Sid Marcus, but Columbia's cartoon department had been in a state of chaos for three years, so nothing came of it.

Love These Old Cartoons

Warning: Spoilers
Look at this, before Pearl Harbor.

Kind of Elmer Fudd's young brother with Red Skelton takeoffs (I'm a bad widdle boy), this character goes to the eye doctor to get glasses and the doctor's dog has to take the fella home. Dog gets drunk and takes the guy on flag poles and the like.

Catchphrase seems to emerge with the Elmer character asking over and over about directions and where he is currently located.

The guy decides he doesn't want the glasses and throws them away. They land on the dog's face. Now the dog sees everything in multiple images as did the previous wearer.

Totally absurd final joke with the dog looking at a fire hydrant.
