Reviewing the career of Ron Sullivan, I keep finding quirky features among the many routine ones, and thanks to a deft script by Neil Wexler this clever little interracial effort is amusing.
Title role is filled by Field Marshal Bradley, an actor who was well-liked at the time but apparently largely forgotten, his act having been since appropriated by Samuel L. Jackson. Not the sex-with-big-dick side, but rather his infectious screen personality which Sam has made just one small facet of his own.
Though a short feature it has lots of weird subplots and everything from BDSM to cult type behavior. Jackson is something like Saturday Night Live's The Ladies Man smoothie character, giving sexual advice for a living and curing sexual dysfunctions without a license.
I won't spoil the odd turns of plot and rather strange characters who pop up, but Sullivan as Henri Pachard is blessed with a terrific cast. Key players are heroine Alicia Monet, Shana McCullough for comic relief and Ona Zee in her patented dominatrix mode. Hall of famers like Veronica Hart, Randy Spears and Joey Silvera are amusing, with Joey almost treated to being a bottom in a Gay scene which stops short, this being a mainstream video of its time.
With Jack Baker also generating some laughs, SJ is hardly as far out as the famous shows of its period, like the Let Me Tell Ya About White Chicks series, but its quirkiness ages well.
