Worse than the worst of Wood
Jase2rt24 August 2002
I rented this movie because there was a glaring typo on the back of the box. I figured if they had put that little care into the advertising how good could the film be? I was right, it was awful. Awful like watching a train wreck awful. The kind of bad movie you just can't stop watching and you eventually give in and just howl with laughter at how screamingly inept the whole mess is. The entire thing appears to have been filmed at a truck stop (masquerading for a military psychiatric facility, among other places) and I seem to recall the end credits confirming as much. The dialogue is worse than most movies I've seen on MST3K and the plot is completely ridiculous. Every time I hear some twit like Ebert going on about how some big star vehicle is the worst thing he's seen I just think "He hasn't seen Naomi's Web". If you like crap, you can't go wrong with Naomi.

Great Effort for a First Film

Keana Jackson,(Naomi) gives an noteworthy performance. She will be someone to watch out for. Mark my words! An insider's note, this film was made on a miracle budget of only $500 (Five Hundred USD). Also note, this film has grossed over $2 million USD in sales and rentals in Hollywood Video alone.

Latamra Smith is also solid and believable in her role as Elain Marshall, who is assigned to evaluate Naomi.

What most people miss is that at the end of the rolling credits, there is a "Making Of" that begins, which in some ways is more impressive than the film itself. It shows in detail, how this miracle of a film was put together with a very creative team, and filmed on video at a tow truck company. The courtroom, jail cell, laboratory, office, and other scenes were all done in a very convincing fashion.

When you get past some of the campiness of the character actors, Keana Jackson and Latamra Smith hold it all together.

Naomi's Web!!!

Abernathy does a great job at keeping the suspense going. It does not look like the movie cost them $500, but it looks more like they spent at least $500,000 or more on the production. I was really pleased with the way everything turned out. The editing was pretty decent too. The director keeps you guessing throughout the entire movie. I'm glad I purchased a copy. I will keep it forever. Loved the "talent" especially the ladies, they did a remarkable job at portraying their characters.. The seriousness in the storyline was tackled with great success which pleased me. For a young lady to be so young, but yet so talented, I only expect great things from her and Abernathy in the coming years..good job - well done everyone. Can't wait for part 2.
