This is a wonderful movie, in which two kids who have very little in common find some common ground when a dragon lands on the girl's backyard. The dragon turns out to be the famous Mizuchi, who wants to have a holiday after working for many centuries in the Balanced Particle Freeway, but if he doesn't recover, he could vanish and the freeway will be in danger without his magic. So, he confides in the children, Lili and Bede, to help him out by making some quests. The kids travel to amazing places such as China and France, but they face the hideous Zeppa, a mean creature in the Freeway that tries to take back what Mizuchi needs to survive. It's a definite watch if you're after some nostalgic adventure.
THE GOOD:
- Wonderful child actors, Molly McCaffrey as Lili and the well-known Damien Bodie as Bede in one of his first roles.
- The soundtrack, beginning with Mizuchi singing a funny song about how he needs to have a holiday soon, and closing with a beautiful song about believing in magic, set to the kids traveling on Mizuchi's wings.
- The destinations, China and France are some of them. It gives the story a true sense of adventure.
THE BAD:
Nothing much really. Just that it's somehow old, and the look of the movie is very retro because the VHS copy is the only one that can be found online. Also, the talking animals, Spud the dog and Esmeralda the cat get to be a little annoying at times, but that's how a kid's mind work. As kids, we all wished to speak to our pets. Will Lili and Bede get to save Mizuchi? If they do, they get a reward, and they would love to talk to their pets. Also, worth mentioning that Bede is spending some time in Lili's house because his mom is on a break. Will Lili's parents find out about the dragon staying in the backyard? Watch this amazing movie (with children if you want) to find out!
