After the glory, then what?
Longneck_TX22 January 2006
There was a documentary, produced by the Macedonian Film Commission, I believe, recently shown on our local PBS station that followed Olga Kern in the year after the Van Cliburn competition. Lots of planes, trains and automobiles as she travels the world from one concert to another. Not all stops are as glamorous as one would think. Some venues look a lot like my high school auditorium and the concert organizers (and pianos) often match the environment. She is forced to spend so much time away from her son which is obviously very painful to her. I have searched IMDb and Google to try to find some reference to it, but to no avail. I don't know if it was just shown locally or if it was a network production, but if you are a fan of Olga Kern (or classical music in general), this is a good insight to the sometimes exciting, sometimes tedious existence of the artist.
