This movie is a short. I've only ever seen it on HBO once, but it catches your interest immediately, and holds it until the end. The awkwardness draws you right in and leaves you smiling, but shifting yourself a little in your seat. If you get a chance to see it, watch it. Excellent, eccentric short film.

A Wonderful Short

Warning: Spoilers
I saw this short on cable and recorded it. I've watched it several times and think it could be expanded into a movie. I certainly felt the director should have done more. Dorrie, a middle aged woman (Anne Carney) chaperones her niece's first date at the behest of her sister. Claudia, the niece is not thrilled and Owen (her date) is reluctant at first, but he soon finds himself having a better time with Dorrie. They go to the fair, cruise the strip and then head out to the lake for a little swim and a surprising conclusion to the evening. With a little expansion of the characters before the date and, of course, following up afterwards would make for a very interesting movie. Anne Carney is terrific.
