A pair of American slackers travel across Europe in a car. As they run out of gas they come across a petrol station that appears deserted. While one searches for the owners the other fills the car up. They discover too late that the station has been abandoned and that the pump is pumping water and not gasoline. Their hippy sentiments quickly gives way to frustration and fighting.
This short starts out like many a movie or book that takes a student road trip as it's origin. Both men talk about zen and the beauty of things pretentious stuff like that. However this all quickly unravels once the car has stopped. The pretentious talk and hippy-speak continues for a while but they revert back to `normal' people quite quickly.
It's very simple, but the story makes fun of the main characters and also the ideal of the road trip to self-discovery (even one of the characters is called Jack Dean!). The two main American actors are good and are self-mocking and their delivery is what makes the film. The mocking subsides with an ending that appears corny at first but is actually getting to a good punch line.
Overall this is short, clever, witty and interesting. Well worth a watch.
