100 YEARS OF HORROR is a 26-episode TV series made in 1996 and featuring the delightful Christopher Lee as host, his sonorous narration exploring the history of horror cinema in the 20th century. Each themed episode contains plentiful clips from the films mentioned along with brief interview footage seemingly culled from other documentaries as well as TV shows and the like.

SORCERERS is a straightforward episode of the show looking at black magicians and wizards of various kinds. Basil Rathbone's baddie in THE MAGIC SWORD is included even though that kiddie film isn't even remotely a horror picture, and of course NIGHT OF THE DEMON takes centre stage. There isn't much in the way of insight here, but the breadth of interview clips from the likes of Roger Corman keeps it interesting.

100 Years of Horror: Sorcerers (1996)

*** (out of 4)

Lesser entry in the series is still an entertaining one. We take a look at sorcerers and how they've been shown in countless movies ranging from THE MAGIC SWORD to several of the Corman/Price pictures and even NIGHT OF THE DEMON is mentioned. I think the term sorcerer is put to wide use here but this is still a pretty entertaining entry in the series. Once again the real highlight are all the interviews that we get. This time out we get Dana Andrews discussing NIGHT OF THE DEMON, Roger Corman, William Alland, Hugh Hefner and even Vincent Price stops by. There's certainly nothing overly groundbreaking here but the interviews are always nice and we even get host Christopher Lee telling a great story about him walking with a friend one day and bumping into a famous actor.
