A Deathbed Promise
boblipton19 January 2016
On their mother's deathbed, Charles Wheelock promises her he will watch out for his brother, Lafe McKee. However, the demon rum has lost him his fiancée and his job, until Charles takes him on as brakeman on his engine. Little do they know what fate has in store for them in this stolid railroad melodrama.

With the loss of protection of the Motion Picture Patents Trust and with William Selig's always conservative approach to production, Selig Polyscope was losing out to the new companies. The European War meant the Continent was no longer a reliable market and Selig's sloth in going to feature production mean this early film studio wasn't much longer for the world.
