Grounds For Divorce
boblipton2 December 2022
Tim Ryan gets a promotion at work, but his boss says he'll visit him at the place he's rented for vacation and meet Tim's wife Irene. She has let her father and brother move in and make a bunch of 'improvements'.

Unfortunately, once you get past the set up, there isn't much to smile at here, with a bunch of insane devices that make everyone miserable. I won't go into detail in case you wish to look at this two-reel comedy and wish to be surprised. You probably will be.... but not pleasantly.

Irene Ryan divorced Tim in 1942, and later attained greater fame as Granny on the Beverly Hillbillies.

The only reason to watch "The Wacky Family" is to see Irene Ryan (Granny from "The Beverly Hillbillies") and her husband, Tim, star in a short film. Apart from that, it's an amazingly unfunny short.

Tim (Tim Ryan) wants to be promoted to General Sales Manager for the candy company. His boss is considering it, but insists that he should visit Tim at home and meet Tim's wife, Irene (Iren Ryan). But when Tim comes home, he finds that the wife has invited her insane family to come live with them...and they turned the place into a hotel! They also put signs up all over the lawn saying that the candy Tim's company makes is inferior. Soon the boss arrives and he is not pleased.

Imagine Gracie Allen or the movie "The Stupids"....but even stupider and more nonsensical...that that would be this movie. The jokes are rapid-fire...but also fall flat because they really aren't funny and none of the film makes sense. At least, on the positive side, the actors put their all into the picture.
