Sam undoubtedly is funny. Anyhow everybody laughed at him where this picture was seen. But Sue's character seems in some ways a travesty upon womanhood. No woman worth considering would be as inconsistent as this one is represented to be, marrying a man apparently because he appeared at the time when the minister was there. Spoony Sam is not improbable. Indeed, there are a good many like him. But Sue can scarcely be swallowed. Women are not like that and there is nothing funny in representing them so. This picture would be improved by changing that wedding scene to make it appear that Sam was put off for a time, but eventually accepted, after he had received his lesson. - The Moving Picture World, December 24, 1910
