Love Laughs at Locksmiths

When the father of Pauline Bush and Jessalyn Tromp forbid them to associate with cowboys, would-be suitors J. Walter Kerrigan and Marshall Neilan recruit a widow to sweet-talk the old cuss.

This is one of many hard-to-find short silent films you can look at on the Eye Institute site on Youtube. Its points of interest are largely technical, but it's worth a viewing for fans of very old movies. It's one of the early short western films directed by Alan Dwan at the start of his half century wielding the megaphone. Although the screen writing is pretty sparse, Mr. Dwan already shows a good eye for finding an interesting site and manner of shooting it, despite the vast number of movies he was expected to send back to be edited, printed and distributed.
