Walter Hiers is one of the more obscure silent movie comedians, not much of his work circulates and little if anything is written about him in film histories. Hiers seems a more innocent, sweeter version of Fatty Arbuckle and it's nice to see a plump comedian whose heft is not used in unkind humor at his expense. In this two-reeler Hiers is engaged to a pretty young girl whose eccentric father (Jack Duffy) will not give her hand until Hiers passes the initiation in his secret society known as "the goats". A nasty rival for the girl's affections is determined Walter fails and he and his buddies go out of their way to thwart his success. This is an amusing little slapstick with such old standbys as fake skeletons and battles on skyscraper ledges but it all works thanks to a spirited cast and good pacing.
