I have been looking for this short film for ages and I finally found it. I had seen it once before on SBS and I loved it so much. It was a joy to see Gerard Kennedy on screen and the performance of Ngaire Pigram and Kerry Naylon were excellent. The film tells a story of a young woman left alone in a deserted mining camp while her boyfriend goes in search of a new mine shaft. After a trip into town, she see a young Aboriginal girl standing in the middle of the road. From there it ells an old but tragic tale. The location filming is breathtaking and shows how isolated a place like Coober Pedy is. I would recommend this film for anyone who loves Australian cinema. Warning though, it took me ages to find it and I did manged to watch it on Vimeo. I would love to own a copy but I have never seen it on DVD. Maybe because the running time is not very long. But more films like this needs to be supported.
