Trouble in a vacuum
JordanThomasHall25 June 2019
Bud asks Lou for 50 cents in a variation of their classic routine "Loan Me 50 Dollars". Mr. Fields tells them to get a job to pay their rent. Bud takes Lou to Fields Employment Agency to find him a job. Lou is quickly trained as a vacuum cleaner where he's shown "how easy it is" by demonstrating an overly eager buyer. Naturally, things don't go as smoothly when peddling door-to-door.

Interestingly, this episode aired just ten days before a nearly identical vacuum sales routine aired on the "Sales Resistance" episode of "I Love Lucy".

MEN & WOMEN WANTED: DEAD OR ALIVE!

Bud and Lou sign up with Mr. Field's vacuum cleaner company, selling vacuums all around the neighborhood. Leave it to sly ole Fields to have a company for his tenants to work at to pay the rent!

This is another kooky episode with Lou getting beat up as a door to door salesman while Abbott watches from a safe distance. Lucille Ball did a similar episode on I LOVE LUCY prior to this show, dumping trash in a lady's apartment to show how superior a cleaner she was selling. Lou does the same thing here, making you wonder if it all was just a coincidence! Lou also gets poor Hillary Brooke all dirtied up! There's a super bit with Joe Besser (dressed as the Mean Widdle Kid) running past Bud and Lou with a glass of water in his hand. They ask him why. Joe says his apartment's on fire! Lots of insanity and schtick! SEASON 1 dvd box set.
