I think PERRY MASON had the most cases with missing brides, and in all fairness, why not add one to Barnaby's long list of mysteries.
This one is interesting, thanks to Larry Alexander, who wrote eight episodes for the series, also a frequent writer for CHIPS. Popular tv actress Leslie Charleson plays Victoria who up and vanishes on the day of her wedding, although she does manage to
call her frantic new husband, at least to let him know she isn't DEAD --yet. Don't ya' love it?
Translation: someone from her past wants to do an exchange. She knows too much. Leslie is the perfect fit for this type of a role, as you will see. A bit of a different case for Barnaby, and the best part is observing all the suspicious faces. Case in point are two fine actors who have played lots of red herrings or guilty parties; Frank Marth, as Elliott and Tim O'Connor as Stu. Both actors were favorites in Quinn Martin productions.
Also look for Robert Hogan (as Dwight), who appeared six times in the series. Brash Arch Johnson is appropriately cast as the sheriff.
Series director Michael Caffey does a fine job with this cast, even in small parts. Child actress Marcia Mae Jones, who acted with Shirley Temple, has a good bit here.
Partly filmed in Pasadena, with less smog? Many times film crews would actually film outside Hollywood due to traffic and smog.
SEASON 4 EPISODE 5 remastered CBS dvd box set.
