"One Bullet from Broken Bow" was the 15th episode from the first season of the Gene Barry "Bat Masterson" television series about the legendary lawman. Masterson dressed for success with a cane, a derby, a suit, and a revolver holstered across his belly. In this episode, U.S. Cavalry General Phil Sheridan (Charles Maxwell) imposes on an extremely reluctant Masterson to rescue two girls that Pawnee renegade Indian named Stone Calf (H.M. Wynant of "Marlowe") has captured after a raid on the ranch where their parents resided. The girls are the survivors of the massacre. Stone Calf hates the army, particularly because a cavalryman slashed the left side of his face with a saber that left a deep scar all the way down his neck to his chest. Initially, this murderous Native American is inclined to kill the two girls, and he does in fact give the order, but rescinds it. Sheridan contacts Masterson in the town of Broken Bow. Masterson has no intention of putting on trail clothes for another dusty mission against the Indians after his recent tour of duty with the army. Masterson's date for the evening, Dolores Clark (Joan O'Brien), tires of Bat's objections to riding out to rescue the helpless girls.
This prompts our derby hatted hero to whistle a different tune. He agrees to put his life on the line to negotiate the release of the girls. Of course, no sooner than Masterson has ridden near Stone Calf's camp, the wily Indian's sentries get the drop on him and take him to their leader. Eventually, Masterson gets to see what the Rafferty girls look like. The big surprise and major reveal is that they are grown up. One of them has an admirer who is willing to sacrifice his life to see her to freedom. Masterson bluffs his way out of Stone Calf's camp, but the savage dispatches all his natives to track them down. Our hero and his two girls are cut off before they can reach the town of Broken Bow. Interestingly, Broken Bow has an emergency bell and this piece of equipment is established in the first few minutes of the show as Masterson rides into town. Masterson along with Barbara (Donna Martell) and Lori (Susan Whitney) put up stiff resistance and actually kill some of Stone Calf's rifle-wielding warriors. While they are blasting away at the opposition, neither Bat nor the Rafferty sisters notice a savage who drops down from the mountain behind them and winds up shooting at his former comrades. Lori was attracted to this brave and he joins their side while Masterson takes his buffalo rifle and shoots at the Broken Bow bell to alert the citizens that danger lurks. Sheridan and the cavalry ride to Masterson's rescue.
Later, in the saloon, Sheridan congratulates Masterson for a job well done. Standing nearby Masterson is the brave, Juanito (Robert Conrad of "The Wild, Wild West"), who helped them. According to the Internet Movie Database, Juanito was Conrad's third acting assignment in Hollywood—or Hollyweird as Conrad loves to refer to Tinseltown. Conrad has one physical scene when he vaults down a mountain, but he delivers no lines of dialogue.

When Masterson meets with Sheridan before he rides out to save the gals, you can see a continuity error as the position of our hero's revolver changes during the scene. Not a bad episode.
