Client: Nelson

Clay Culhane comes upon two men brawling. When he breaks them up, both men claim to be a deputy.

The younger man Ben claims he has been chasing the older man called Tom Nelson, a notorious outlaw wanted for murder.

While Nelson claims that Ben is the murderer who stole his badge, now pretending to be a lawman.

Back in town, it turns out that Ben Travers is Nora's brother in law. They have not previously met but he reminds Nora of her husband.

While Nelson hires Clay to exonerate him. That means someone to ride back where the deputy is based to get an accurate description of him.

The tension is maintained as both men seem to act suspicious from time to time. One of them is an impostor but its well played by the director.

Meanwhile romantic sparks fly between Ben and Nora. That seems to make Clay uneasy.

A woman's view

Clay comes upon two men fighting. They both claim to be a lawman bringing in a prisoner. Both men are very convincing, and its up to Clay to figure out who's telling the truth.

There's another issue with Nora. One of the men (Ben Travers, (played by James Best), is her brother-in-law. Nora is a bit taken aback by her relative.

Clay and Marshal Scott go back and forth about who is the real deputy. I was a bit surprised at the answer! In the end, two men died and one was wounded. The only jail time anybody served was when both men were in jail until Clay and Scott could figure out who was who!
