Very surprised not more people have reviewed this episode as it reveals the great talents of Newhart, Jack Riley , Peter Bonerz and Bill Dailey. "The scene " is where all four get drunk at Bob's house and the writing of the dialogue is nothing short of genius. It also appears that significant improvisation by the four actors took place making "the scene" even funnier than may have been planned. Great watch year round but extra funny at Thanksgiving. A perfect episode - which seldom happens in sitcom productions.

I'm currently watching through the series on Hulu and gave been having a blast! . My family watched this show when I was a kid but I don't remember a single specific episode. While I've enjoyed the series, this episode was the first that had me continuously laughing. Laughed so much that I was promoted to check IMDB so see if it was considered one of the best of the series. I was pleased to see it was not only considered one of the best of the series, but one of the best in TV history. I put it up there with the Thanksgiving episodes of WKRP in Cincinnati and Cheers. Bravo to misters Newhart, Bonerz, Daily, and Riley.

If I had watched this episode before reviewing the previous one, I wouldn't have worried about the show getting back on track. It won't take the required 600 words to say this one was hilarious and prove that great comedy is timeless. When you have the four best and funniest actors of the entire cast dominating the episode together, how can you go wrong. I prefer when the writers concentrate on a small group like this, whether it's Bob, Emily and Howard, (and sometimes Jerry and Carol) at home, or a small office group or Bob's therapy group rather than adding a lot of extra characters and forcing a story that isn't really funny. (Yes, I'm referring to the previous episode.)
