Old army comrades.
bkoganbing29 July 2017
I don't recall if in Bonanza whether Ben Cartwright's Mexican War service was ever mentioned, but in this episode he runs into an old comrade. It's no happy reunion though, Robert Lansing was a member of the San Patricios, a group of Irish immigrant soldiers who deserted to the other side. For which he was drummed out of the army.

Wearing a growth of beard to hide the "D" branded on his cheek, Lansing with wife Anna Navarro ekes out a living as a teamster. So when a freighting company starts trying to rob the Ponderosa on a freighting deal, Lansing and Lorne Greene have need of each other.

The climax of this episode is a wagon race for a new freighting contract. Guess who wins. But it's as exciting as the chariot race in Ben-Hur.

Lansing and Navarro turn in a pair of fine guest star performances in this Bonanza story.

Just another war's kiss and make up story
Thomas0013 December 2017
Another war is over, another father/daughter team, well, not exactly daughter, but the trend is there. Anna played lot of these shows and she was always the best. The best laugh came when the freighter was asked to transport 30 foot beams, and he said "I will have to cut them in half", and he was not trying to be funny.
