Yet it wasn't the last aired episode. A darker episode still needed to air about Joe. This looks like a cross between Quiet Man and Suspicion. Glad Tim Matheson got some meaty episodes during his abbreviated season stint with series. Apparently Rayford Barnes came in handy the last season. With a woman deputy marshal this looks like a Big Valley episode or a Virginian with a female attorney. The Cartwrights are worked into this effectively. The story moves along well. It's intriguing to see how many are let in on a secret. Not among the best episodes. Overplotted. Still the suspense is solid. Doesn't make you forget this began as a show about four Cartwrights.
