Ed Brown the saint
kevinolzak5 July 2016
"Ed the Hero" opens with Raul writing an essay on Ed for school because he wants him to be father of the year. A sarcastic response to a deadbeat customer results in a new reputation as a charitable mechanic who repairs cars for free. Ed winds up fixing one jalopy after another, but he actually enjoys having people looking up to him as a saint. Louie wants to know if he can become 'Saint Louie!' Raul's class wants to elect Ed 'Father of the Year,' but after he lectures them on the bravery of the local fireman they change their minds. In retaliation Raul chooses not to run for class president. One of the better entries from this dismal season, as we get a rare character study in what makes Ed Brown tick, not so prevalent after the loss of Freddie Prinze. Repeating his role as Hector Gomez from the second season's "Chico and the Van," veteran funny man Ralph Manza still can't convince as a Chicano, with a very pregnant wife who gives birth to twins, named Ed and Brown!
