Like father, unlike son. Some traditions end.

Warning: Spoilers
Gambino is looking forward to seeing his son Anthony Jr. who just graduated high school. He hopes he will become a lion trainer like himself. But Anthony Jr. is no chip off the block. He was raised in Boston and is appalled at his father's life style. He even calls his dad Mr. Gambino. Anthony Jr. is ashamed of his father; he can't even speak correctly with that heavy Italian accent.

Corky and Pete are put off by Anthony Jr., but Joey wants to give him benefit of the doubt. The circus is holding a party to celebrate their dress rehearsal before their first opening night. Anthony Jr. finally joins in by directing the circus crowd in a lucky song; but he feels the circus people are crude and ignorant. He's leaving. He has no intention of following on the family tradition of Gambino lion tamers; the tradition stops here.

Gambino goes to see Joey to announce his son wants to leave. But first he wants Joey to speak with Anthony Jr. Joey pretends to be looking for Gambino, but he is hoping he can convince Anthony Jr. to stay; Joey tells Anthony Jr. the truth. Gambino didn't go to see his son in Boston because that was the grandmother's wish. She would raise the boy after the mother died, but the father would have no contact.

Anthony Jr. stays for now and watches his father work the big cats. Gambino sends his son into the big cage, along with him, to start Anthony Jr.'s training. Anthony Jr. bolts from the cage in fear; Gambino believes his son was raised to be a coward, and he then slaps his son.

That night Anthony Jr.is leaving, but he sees a monkey open the cage of an untamed lion. He alerts his father. The lion is found in an abandoned mine. Gambino goes in to get Nuba but there is a rock fall and Gambino is knocked out. Anthony Jr. takes over and chases the lion into a transfer cage. Gambino is proud of his son and decides he will follow his son back to Boston.

Anthony Jr. has decided to stay; he will help direct the band. Perhaps a new tradition is beginning.

In this episode, we not only have Anthony Caruso as Gambino, but John Wilder as Anthony Jr. Caruso was in over 250 movies and TV shows. Wilder went on to become a writer and producer of TV shows.
