Dick Van Dyke plays five characters
safenoe21 November 2016
Warning: Spoilers
Diagnosis Murder is renowned for the number of Van Dyke family members appearing - I think the record is the series finale, The Blair Nurse Project, where six Van Dyke family members appeared (Dick, his son Barry, and four of Dick's grandchildren).

In this episode, Inheritance of Death, only two appear (Dick and his son Barry), but Dick plays five characters - the regular character Dr Mark Sloan, and four extended family members: Jonathan Nash, J. Edison Nash, Judith Nash, Julian Nash. In fact at the end there was a special credit sequence for Dick's performance of these four characters.

Not a bad episode, with Diagnosis Murder finding its feet (this was only the fourth episode of season 1). Diagnosis Murder is what it is, a bit of light hearted fun that's not chasing Emmy votes, and that's fine with me.

This episode of "Diagnosis Murder" is one of my favorites. A pleasant way to spend an hour. Dick Van Dyke plays 4 of the characters in this fun episode. I thought his son Barry had played one of the roles of the younger characters. A testament to the wonderful job the makeup artist did. This series comes form a more innocent time when cozy mystery stories were in vogue. The acting and writing is good. Nothing over the top.

Wow - so bad

Warning: Spoilers
I am new at this review thing - but sometimes things need to be said. My husband and I have a hard time trying to understand why or how people can like this series. We had a really tough time getting through this episode. To say it is stupid, ridiculous and silly is really putting it mildly! One Dick Van Dyke is quite enough, but for him to be in disguise to play multiply characters was just too much. He made a very ugly woman! There is nothing good to say about this trash. Some of the scenes were embarrassingly dumb and so is the acting. We have watched other previous episodes, but find this one (so far) at the top of our hate list. Watch it - if you like it - more power to you. By the way, we are seniors and have our mental facilities and are not ready for totally mindless entertainment.
