Valerie Blake--Joan Staley.
Jerry a jerk again.
"Jealousy!" is an okay episode of "The Dick Van Dyke Show". I say okay because it is entertaining but a couple of the characters are shown in a somewhat dark light...something you'd likely NOT see in subsequent seasons.
Valerie Blake is a glamourous movie star who is going to be the guest on the next "Alan Brady Show". However, Alan hates a skit the staff wrote for her and again and again Alan rejects the skit and this means working some late nights for Rob. Unfortunately, two problems develop. Jerry is a jerk and keeps implying that Rob is up to no good with the actress. And, Laura is insecure enough to think Jerry could be right. But no matter what Rob does, Laura is beginning to think the worst of him.
This episode might be more entertaining had I not seen later shows and the nice chemistry the show created between the characters. Here, Laura is uncharacteristically nasty and Jerry is so obnoxious in season one that I am surprised they kept his character on the show. But despite this, the show still is worth seeing...though I wouldn't consider it among the better episodes.
