This is my fourth favorite episode; this episode is the season finale or at least the real season finale of the show. Sadly, in a way it's also the real series finale, this really shouldn't of been the end there was just so much more ground to cover.

Mainly in world building, I would have loved to of known more about Earth One's future history, what transpired there, certain conspiracies, and how all that will lead to more of what is to come for the show. From some of the episodes and what we discover it really felt like it was leading to that. What the fate of Eden group will be sadly can only be answered in the realm of Fanfiction.

Things are truly dire as everyone has been hit by some sort of unknown illness and their numbers are starting to dwindle. This episode in a way is one which brings more questions than answers. We discover a little more on how right the Terrians were on their claims on the humans venturing to Earth 2 we see one of the first council ships and the first groups surviving members. How much more of a hand the Council had in the colonization matters and how nefarious they truly are, but also that Riley is a computer program and its origins. I didn't really see that coming though I should of, it makes perfect sense how could Julia talk to the same person 20 years latter and he would look the same.

This episode has a slow burn suspense as things get grimmer and we are slowly making interesting but also uncomfortable discovers on the damage the Council has done and is doing; desperately trying to find hope for salvation. Really like that moment when Devon she just snaps, which was interesting as she's usual a calm person. But after what the creator of Riley says, yeah, I'd lose my cool too. I remember thinking, "you want to die fine do that on your own time, but you're not taking anyone with you." I know that sound bold but it's true; what the guy says truly shows how much that first group have lost themselves. Of course, the last survivor of the first group changes her mind and helps which all comes down to a quick fix in the end but also more questions.

From the discovery of what Riley is and this first group it makes me wonder more, is there another conspiracy organization other than the Council at work and some sort of shadow war that is occurring? What more does this first group know, despite all they told it still felt like they were keeping a few more secrets before they died. What was that settlement Yale uncovered, what were they all dying from a plague or more of the Council army that destroyed them? Is there any more to Riley's motives other than the boy and his abilities, something tells me they want to use Ulysses and his abilities for even more nefarious purposes. Also, the big question is where else was this show going to go?

The ending is sad as we get a rude awakening but also was a surprising turn at the time. Devon we hear never had a biological implant which is why she has fallen ill from this unknown plague. I'll admit at the time it really took me by surprise, because this was the main protagonist of the whole show, she can't be out of the game, right?

The subtraction of a main character or one of them wasn't a common thing at the time, most of the time it was a rare occurrence from "Blake's 7" to even "Doctor Who" but seeing this just goes to show the jeopardy of Eden group's predicament that no one is truly safe.

The last minutes are haunting as we see Eden group with looks of loss in their faces place Devon into Cro stasis and Ulysses he then put up some decoration as Eden group has to continue their odyssey without one of their own. And we hear Devon final narration that their land of salvation may be truly lost.
