Not very interesting

Telma Hopkins was part of Tony Orlando and Dawn. Having Rachel become musical director of a church choir had to be a reference to Telma's musical roots. However, the story is not very engaging. The gospel music is just loud (loud is not the same as good). How obvious that she wouldn't want Steve in the choir. Even Laura seemed a little upset when Rachel dismissed Steve. A rather underwhelming episode. There was, however, one good scene. We get a nice shot of Laura's pretty legs (while she's sitting in church!) You must forgive me! I'm a big Laura/Kellie S Williams fan. Very little Steve-Laura content here. Also, not good.

Cute episode, although lacking in the humor department.

An episode that deals with Rachel's selfish behavior and Urkel's newfound faith. It's a cute little episode with some nice family-type morals and teaching viewers to be more considerate of the feelings of others, but in terms of humor the episode is quite lacking. Sort of reminds me of the duller first season which was also a bit low on humor, but still something a fan can watch without much problem, but also without many laughs either. There's also a bit of an inconsistency in this episode where Steve is portrayed as not having been religious before despite that previous episodes did portray him as having beliefs, but if continuity retcons don't bother you much then I'm sure you can still enjoy the episode. Overall the episode was sort of a 6.5 out of 10, but since I can't give it a 6.5 score, I'll settle for a score of 7.

Yikes, this was a bad episode! I wondered why but then I checked out when it aired and it was right around Christmas of 1991 so it explains the amount of religion and lack of humor

As an atheist I don't get "offended" by Christian characters or story lines, but when it comes to sitcom I also expect them to be funny and it is possible!

But in this episode i can't think of any real jokes besides of course the fact that a smart boy like Steve would believe in god and also use such a lame explanation for it. Uhhhhm you can see an atom and you have enough physical evidence for it. Such a genius should have known

While it was interesting getting an insight into this aspect of the Winslow' lives, I didn't appreciate how they portrayed Rachel. I feel it didn't fit with her established character.
