...but for good reasons. Porter has landed the float plane and find the pontoon has a hole and is waterlogged meaning he can't take off. Sandy is stripping down the engine of the launch and its an hour's job putting the engine back together so he can't come and get Porter and Bud has the skiff at a sea scout meeting. Sandy gives a resin bottle to repair the hole to Flipper to deliver out to Porter. The nonchalance of the request is a reflection of the human-like abilities the script writers ascribed to Flipper.

Flipper is distracted twice on the way - first a lady diver whose bright medallion attracts a barracuda and second a man trapped in an underwater avalanche. Both are rescued by Flipper. The producers saved money by using identical footage from previous episodes.

Porter is getting anxious and has Sandy to call in an excuse for the important meeting. In the end Flipper's delays mean that the boys take the skiff out when Bud returns from scouts. They rig up the skiff to tow the plane and Bud and Porter stay on the pontoon pumping out water. It's not until they return home and the rescued lady calls to thank Porter for Flipper's help and the rescued diver stops by with food for Flipper do the Ricks realize why Flipper never delivered the resin bottle.
