Bud's jealousy
wrxsti5411 July 2014
Warning: Spoilers
Coral Key Park welcomes a film crew filming a green monster movie in underwater scenes. The female star Ella comes to the Ricks for a few days before filming and Flipper takes such a shine to her that Bud gets terribly jealous.

The movie director is a grumpy demanding man and when the green monster threatens Ella, Flipper swoops in to defend her prompting the film crew to crack out a rifle that they shoot at Flipper. This leads to a tense row between Porter and the director in which Porter agrees to pen Flipper to avoid further disruption to the underwater set.

Bud's jealously leads him to 'accidentally' release Flipper in the hopes the actress competing with him for Flipper's affection has to leave with the disgruntled film crew.

Flipper obliges by disrupting the shoot prompting the director to give a spear gun to the actor in the monster suit to shoot at Flipper. The actress alerts Porter via a flare, Porter comes to the scene, dives to see what's happening, wrestles the green monster who in turn accidentally shoots the cameraman who Flipper rescues. The movie director apologizes to everyone for being such a jerk but Bud has been smacked hard enough by Porter he admits to Ella that it was days before he could ride his bike!

Funny line: 11 year old Bud on women to Flipper - girls are the same as boys only more round!

Script needed toning down
jameselliot-12 June 2018
Great cast, the usual top notch production by Ivan Tors. Too much violence mars what could have been a fun episode. Flipper being shot at by a film crew. An underwater fight. The cameraman taking a spear to the shoulder. The monster costume (at least the headpiece) was from the film The Monster From Piedras Blanca. Wende Willams was the assistant Miss Case from The Green Hornet.

Bud's evil side
mitchrmp10 November 2012
Warning: Spoilers
The whole filming of a monster movie was a bit far-fetched, but the focus of the story was on Bud and his jealousy of Flipper's not paying attention to him and giving all his attention to the lady actress. Porter warns Bud that jealousy only causes problems, but Bud doesn't heed his father's warning.

Without giving away anything, I will say that I thought Bud was a bit too evil in this episode. I just cannot believe he would do something so awful. At the same time, I think it's important to note that Bud didn't foresee anything bad happening. And this was a good lesson in what happens when you allow jealousy to take over. He was hateful to Flipper, hateful to the actress, and hateful to his father. In the end, he got his just-reward (a whipping among the punishment), but it could have all been avoided if he had embraced the situation like he should have.

Bud and the Green-Eyed Monster

A film production crew arrives at Coral Key to shoot the underwater footage for a monster movie, with Ricks (Brian Kelly)'s permission. The film's beautiful guest star Wende Wagner (as Ella Bailey) is a big hit with Flipper and Sandy (Luke Halpin), but not jealous Bud (Tommy Norden). Flipper begins to interfere with the film's production, so director Jack Carr (Monty Lucius) orders him shot. Director Ricou Browning is the man in the monster suit. The film they are producing most closely resembles "The Creature from the Black Lagoon". This was the last episode aired during the series' first season. Frequent "Flipper" bit player Courtney Brown (herein Don Cleery) was married to guest star Wende Wagner.
