I just can't get past David Niven being named 'Cookie' in this episode!

This is a very enjoyable episode of "Four Star Playhouse" that stars David Niven as a criminal named 'Cookie'. I thought this was a very strange choice, as Niven seems too urbane and British to be called Cookie! Regardless, it's one of the better episodes of the series.

When the show begins, Cookie is having breakfast with two men. The two men, it turns out, are cops taking Cookie back to the big city to face a lot of prison time. Oddly, Cookie seems to be enjoying all this and even offers to drive and let the two cops sleep in the car! Instead, the tired policemen take him to a nearby town to lock him up while they get a bit of sleep. Cookie is tossed into the drunk tank for safe keeping. However, Cookie is a smart guy and decides to try to blend in and see if he could be mistaken for a simple drunk. After learning the name and a lot of background information on one of the drunks, he is able to go into court and convince the judge he's just a harmless drunk. Does he end up getting away with it? See for yourself.

The reason this show works so well is due to Niven's cute performance as well as the writing for his character. His dialog is pretty clever and funny and the show, though not exactly realistic, is sure a lot of fun. Well worth your time.
