First-class cast, story, directing in "lost Western"
morrisonhimself3 March 2019
Episode 31 of the first season! Today, if a season has 13 new episodes, it's considered long-lasting.

"Hostage" is a very dramatic entry in the "Frontier" series, about supposedly true stories of the Old West, and no doubt many of them are, or are at least somewhat based on true stories.

However routine this story might seem now, after millions of hours of movies and TV shows, both the story itself and its extraordinary cast of top-quality veteran actors elevates "Hostage" into the first tier.

Apparently it is the only episode of the "Frontier" series still extant, and is reported to be the last episode of the series, and the quality of the print is not very good, but even so the quality of the script, of the performances, of the directing is simply extraordinary.

The fight scene is eye-popping as stars Jack Kelly and Ken Tobey go at each other, seemingly doing the work themselves.

Let us hope more of these entries are found and the print quality is better, but if you possibly can, go to YouTube and watch this show, presented by the great Bob Terry as part of the "Forsaken Westerns" series.
