Not bad, just very slow moving.

Gideon is called in when a stable hand is beaten to death, with his dying breath, he explains that men tried to force him into doping a horse at the stable he works at.

On the plus side, the visuals are so good, considering this show was made in 1964, it's been so impressive, clever use of stock footage, and no efforts to use the limited special effects available at the time. Lots of wonderful faces to enjoy.

Joe Short was a pretty interesting character in fairness, I always enjoyed seeing Michael Ripper popping up, he was a familiar face at the time.

Unfortunately, this episode is the first one I didn't really get into, after three very strong episodes, this one felt a bit week. Perhaps od yours a racing enthusiast, there'll be something here for you to enjoy, I just couldn't get into it.

Just too slow to get into, 6/10.

An episode written by Jack Whittingham who wrote the James Bond movie, Thunderball.

This goes at a canter rather than a gallop.

When stable hand Jimmy is beaten to death. Gideon looks at the world of horse race fixing and the part that bookies play in it.

At least the show explains just what is involved in doping horses. It is to slow the horse down rather then speed it up. Hence why it is surreptitiously given to the favourite.

Michael Ripper plays a trainer who succumbs to the pressure of the race fixers. However Gideon and Keen are one step ahead.
