Gidget (Sally Field), her boyfriend Bret (Randy Kirby), and friends discover a new surfing beach. Bret's rival and friends soon come and they begin an argument that leads to a fight with Gidget getting a black eye. Their antics results in authorizes prohibiting the beach for surfing. Gidget rallies the girls to refuse to go on any dates with the boys until they call for a truce with one another. Gidget goes to the beach to find Bret with another girl, Patty Cromwell (Linda Gaye Scott). She goes to Patty's house (the exterior set of "Bewitched") to concede losing Bret and gives her a box of medical supplies to care for Bret's "very serious vitamin deficiency". Her plan works as Patty becomes so overly protective she and Bret fight. Patty returns, however, and Gidget's scheme is revealed and things go awry.

Popular blonde actress Linda Gaye Scott plays Patty, a frenemy of Gidget, who just happens to be getting too close to her boyfriend, Bret (played by Randy Kirby). It all begins as the gang stakes out a new surfing beach... but complications arise. Always most do, thank U.
There's a funny scene when Gidge gives a box of Bret's momentoes to Patty, which looks like she's in mourning? No, he didn't die! But their relationship is sinking fast. Some super beach scenes, when the California surfing water was a lot cleaner. Also check out the red Mustang, looks like a 1964 model. Now that's a smooth ride, and worth a fortune today, if restored.
Two super guest stars. Randy Kirby was quite popular at the time, later appearing on the MARY TYLER MORE SHOW in the 70s, also in the Clint Eastwood movie, PINK CADILLAC. Linda Gaye Scott became somewhat of a cult figure in the 60s, appearing a few times on both BATMAN and the GREEN HORNET.
Yes, that IS the BEWITCHED house, which was on the Columbia lot in Burbank near Gidget's house, also the PARTRIDGE FAMILY house. If the family kitchen looks familiar, that's because it was also used on HAZEL at the same time. Sad news. The lot was torn down in 2023 to make way for new sound stages.
