"Hawaii Five-O" No Bottles... No Cans... No People (TV Episode 1971) Poster

Jack Lord: Det. Steve McGarrett

Quotes

  • Det. Steve McGarrett : [Arriving at crime scene]  Another one?

Danny Williams : Looks like... That'll make five.

Det. Steve McGarrett : Who is it this time?

Danny Williams : Phil Hurley... Small time pimp and all-around good fellow.

  • Det. Steve McGarrett : Any other witnesses?

Kono : Maybe, but nobody's jumping up to volunteer.

  • Johnny Oporta : [McGarrett has been visiting Johnny Oporta]  Stop by anytime, McGarrett... My door is always open.

Det. Steve McGarrett : Not for long.

  • Det. Steve McGarrett : [McGarrett wants an ID on Peter Yano's body]  I want an ID, Doc... And I want it fast.

Doc : It won't be easy.

Det. Steve McGarrett : Well, you're always telling us you're the best... Prove it.

Doc : I'm gonna need all the help I can get with this one.

  • Det. Steve McGarrett : [to Sally about Peter's murder]  We're investigating right now... Every angle, every possibility.

Sally : Angles?... It's a straight line, McGarrett... I know it, you know it, everybody knows it.

  • Det. Steve McGarrett : [McGarett knows Johnny had something to do with Sally's disappearance]  A word of advice, Johnny... If Sally Hodges doesn't show up very soon, feeling fine... I'd start worrying a lot.

  • Furtado : [to McGarrett]  Got some more questions?

Det. Steve McGarrett : Just one... How many?

    Furtado : How many what?

Det. Steve McGarrett : How many bodies have you taken care of for Johnny Oporta?

  • Johnny Oporta : You got nothing, McGarrett.

Det. Steve McGarrett : I've got you, Johnny... with a lock on it... Murder one, seven counts.

  • Det. Steve McGarrett : [McGarrett is taking Johnny Oporta into custody]  Book him, Danno.

  • Det. Steve McGarrett : [Che finds the metal pin that was inserted in Sally's arm in the ashes]  That's my corpus dilecti, Che.

  • Det. Steve McGarrett : [to the syndicate man working with Johnny]  That plane's leaving in 15 minutes... You have a ticket, be on it... And tell your friends in Detroit the deal is off... Permanently.

    [Last lines]

  • Danny Williams : [Danny has found a lot of money in Furtado's car]  Steve, you know that old car of Furtado's?... It turns out it's valuable, worth $27,500 in small bills.

Det. Steve McGarrett : Good work, Danno... Good work..

  • Benson : [Mr. Benson is briefing McGarrett and the Governor on organized crime taking over in Hawaii]  Now, as you both know, the department is very concerned about the spread of organized crime... In the last 24 hours, we have come into posession of definate information that indicates that Hawaii is the next major target of the organization.

Det. Steve McGarrett : Well, how to you figure they'll start?

Benson : Well, in prostitution... That always opens the door for the rest.

Det. Steve McGarrett : And everything comes in after that... Organized gambling, narcotics, loan sharks, protection... The works.

    Benson : Exactly.

Governor : You say the organization feels the time is ripe for Hawaii.

Benson : Yes, precisely... Honolulu is the crossroads of the Pacific. The Waikiki district in particular... A hundred square blocks. Every year a million and a half tourists stream in and out. A million and a half... That's bigger than the city of Houston.

Det. Steve McGarrett : Looks like I underestimated the ambitions of Johnny Oporta.

Benson : Then you know him?

Det. Steve McGarrett : Yeah, I know him... Cheap hustler who's been trying to claw his way to the top of the heap in prostitution... but up until now, we figured it was a local problem.

Benson : Not with the syndicate involved. Once they move in with their money and muscle...

Det. Steve McGarrett : Yeah, Johnny convinced them he's got something to sell.

Benson : They'll put him in charge if he can deliver.

Det. Steve McGarrett : Well, you've tied it all together, Mr. Benson... Up until now, we figured it was an internal struggle, but today a fifth of Johnny Oporta's competitors disappeared... He's playing for high stakes, and he doesn't care who gets hurt.

Governor : Steve, we've got to stop them now before this syndicate moves in. Otherwise it will be too late.

    [to Mr Benson]

Governor : How much time do we have?

Benson : Days at most... Oporta has been givin a deadline. He has to deliver total control... Now, I'm flying right back to Washington... This is your territory, Mr. McGarrett. We'll give you all the help we can... But it's your problem. I don't envy you

  • Det. Steve McGarrett : [Upon walking into Johnny Oporta's office]  Nice office... And this is only the beginning, right Johnny?

Johnny Oporta : [With a smile]  Yeah.

  • Det. Steve McGarrett : It's finished, Johnny... All pau. Because from now on I'm squeezing you so hard it's all gonna crack open... And when it does, you won't have anything or anybody to peddle.

  • Johnny Oporta : [Upon seeing his syndicate contact arrive]  Welcome to Hawaii.

Det. Steve McGarrett : Not quite.

  • Negotiator : [to Johnny Oporta concerning McGarrett]  Is he with you?

Det. Steve McGarrett : No, He's with me.

  • Det. Steve McGarrett : If Johnny Oporta did this, he's not gonna get away with it.

Sally : You talk so big, McGarrett!... SO BIG!

  • Det. Steve McGarrett : [to bartender]  In the last month, four other guys in Phil Hurley's business walked out of joints and were never heard of again... Now, nobody ever saw anything then either.

    Bartender : Is that right?

  • Johnny Oporta : [McGarrett arrives at Johnny Oporta's office]  Is this a social call?

Det. Steve McGarrett : No... No, Johnny... It's business.

  • Det. Steve McGarrett : [McGarrett is leaving Johnny Oporta's office]  Hang loose, Johnny... While you still can.
