While I did NOT think Susan Dey was 'hot' like the other reviewer insists, I was very impressed by her acting in this episode. Many times she showed such wonderful expression with her eyes--eyes that glazed up and betrayed wonderful emotion. While she's rarely considered a great actress (probably due to her "Partridge Family" days), here she was most impressive. I also loved Marc Singer--mostly because his character was written so wonderfully-making him one of the nicest people I've ever seen on the show! Together, the two made this ordinary episode most extraordinary.

The show begins with a courier (Dey) arguing with her boss. It seems she has begun to suspect that he is skimming money--money she's been bringing from mobsters in Vegas to be laundered in Hawaii. The problem is that she's now worried the mob might think she is betraying them and confronts the boss. In the process, she grabs his gun and shoots him. He's only wounded, however, but IS soon killed by hit men who have been sent to kill him and Dey. It seems the Mob has suspected BOTH have been skimming. Dey is able to escape and spends most of the show on the run--afraid of the mob but also afraid to contact the police because she believes (incorrectly) that she's killed a man.

As I said, the plot seemed pretty ordinary but was handled very well by the guests. Dey was great and Singer was so incredibly sweet--heck, if I was the girl, I would have fallen in love with such a sweet dorky guy! Well worth seeing.

Fair episode

This was a pretty good episode. A few twists and turns, the usual cop banter. McGarrett does a wacky jump off a helicopter stunt that was pretty cool. Lots of chase scenes and drama. Good acting and a realistic story. Even the extras do a good job - and they are just regular locals. You're not sure if they are going to catch the guys in time... I'm not telling the rest! You have to watch to see.

Cool thing for me is it was filmed next door to my school (the surfboard factory was next to Pacific Preparatory Academy) and also in Hawaii Kai marina nearby where I lived. I remember seeing it filmed at the marina when we went to Foodland over there.

Warning: Spoilers
OK, I'm one of the major fans of "Hawaii Five-0", but even I admit some episodes are better than others....and here's one of the best.

Susan Dey looks incredibly lovely & plays very well the role of a young hottie who became involved in Las Vegas type crime--skimming and money laundering. Her brother had moved to Hawaii, and is a surfboard glasser....and "Susan" gets help and a bit of romance from one of her brother's friends, owner of Pipeline Surfboards. Finally, the series brings in one of Hawaii's best known activities, surfing-- the inclusion of the surfing culture gives this episode an especially authentic, "local Hawaii" feel. The script has the customary hit men chasing Susan, and they get "booked" in the end, but it's a very Hawaiian trip to that point.

Great episode...

Poor episode

Big Susan Dey fan from The Partridge Family. Plus the 2 main guest stars would later work together on V. But it was a weak plot and just a lot of running or driving around.

Wasn't impressed

Despite featuring Susan Dey (made famous as Laurie Partridge on The Partridge Family) and being one of the legion of young fans to have a crush on her, I simply couldn't get into this episode. We also get an early look at Marc Singer, and the Five-0 casting people continued to find talent who would go on to make bigger splashes.

However, I just didn't really buy either side's ability to track this girl down while she hid ... either Five-0 or the two-man team of hit men.

Also, the device of Five-0 asking a police department in another city to give them a list of hit men and then check incoming passenger lists never washed with me, and is an important, but utterly unbelievable, tactic in this story.
