A very nice heist episode...
planktonrules25 February 2010
This show carries on in the tradition of many of the wonderful heist films of the 50s and 60s, such as "Rififi", "Bob Le Flambeur" and "Grand Slam"--all very enjoyable for their portrayal of a very well-organized attempt to make a huge robbery work. The main difference, however, is that because of the TV time slot, much of the intricate back story, planning and investigation is a bit rushed. But still, it is a very good episode.

The show begins with a veteran criminal (Iim O'Connor) being rescued from police custody. It seems that an aging gangster (veteran tough-guy Paul Stewart) has busted him out to plan the robbery of a seemingly impenetrable diamond exchange. Of course, being a heist film, they'll need to assemble a team and work out all the details down to the second. This is very fascinating and takes the place of some of the time usually given to McGarrett and his men. This show definitely places a greater emphasis on the criminals--making Five-O's solving of the crime seemed a tad less important than the crime! There are many wonderful twists and you can't help but like this one. Plus, I loved seeing one of my favorite old heavies (Stewart) in his return to TV.

One of my favourites

Excellent cast. Great story. A heist caper squeezed into 51 minutes. You see the plan from start to finish with a few curveballs thrown in. Tim O' Connor plays a criminal "mastermind" that never goes after anything small. Nice to see police work being used, from marble dust, cigar ash, to bullets from a Luger with a long history of murder, to a drug to simulate a heart attack. It all pieces together. You are almost rooting for Orwell to get away with it. But McGarrett and company cover the angles. Enjoyable episode. Very re-watchable.

An outstanding heist tale

Warning: Spoilers
I couldn't miss this episode only because it's a heist story. I love this kind of topic. This one is a better among many other eps I have already seen. I remind watched it many years ago, when I was only a child. I love the scenes where the team prepare the caper. The score itself is very similar to the famous SEVEN THIEVES, directed by the great Henry Hathaway, another tremendous heist film, with also the sick man trick to get the bullion out

Besides this, yes it's another good HAWAI FIVE 0 episode. All of them in this TV show were very good. Stories always surprising, with an outstanding music score.

I'll continue this wonderful TV series to get more heist stories. And of course not only.

I have much work ahead...
