It's Martin Sheen....'nuff said!

Warning: Spoilers
The show begins with McGarrett receiving a hangup call from an old flame (Diana Muldaur)he hasn't heard from in years. The next day, he comes to the home of some rich folks to investigate a murder and it turns out the wife of the murdered man is this same woman! Lots of evidence stacks up against this lady and McGarrett starts to wonder if she is indeed the killer. Along the way, there are lots of obligatory flashback scenes about how this woman broke his heart and this appears to have led to Steve living his life out as a bachelor.

Unfortunately, I kinda figured out that she could not have been the killer. Why? Well, because later Martin Sheen appears in the show as Muldaur's step-daughter's fiancée. And, considering the last time he appeared on the show as a young attorney (just like here) he was the bad guy, it follows that once again he's being true to type--which, it turns out, he is!! This is probably NOT a good idea casting-wise. Other than this, it's a fairly ordinary episode.

Intriguing!!

The show's opening scene started with Steve McGarrett waking up at 3 a.m. Steve McGarrett received a telephone call from a close friend by the name of Cathy Wallis. McGarrett had no idea she would be considered a possible suspect in a murder. McGarrett became a bit too caught up with a case that dealt with more than just coincidence. He dealt with a hot dog lawyer by the name of Stephen Dixon. McGarrett did not implicate him as the prime suspect in the murder -- only because he maintained an alibi in San Francisco from the previous night. Henry Borden's character had been involved with his ties to Arthur Dixon in an indirect role -- solely as a lawyer. Steve McGarrett could not prove whom actually murdered the unknown individual in question. It's was too bad Five-O had let a killer go free at the end of the episode. An 8.6 Rating!!

Warning: Spoilers
I like this episode, mainly because it shows McGarrett in a sensitive role. Which I think he does beautifully.. The look on his face when Danny asks him to leave the case for the team to deal with is priceless. I don't think there is a look like that in any other episode. There is only one goof. Arthur says he was on the phone to Joan till after 12.30' but later the flight attendant said he flew back on the 12.45 flight. He would have to be pretty quick to be on the plane in less than 10 mins. Even if he was calling from outside the airport. He would still have to check in. Would that have taken more than ten mins. Maybe I am being picky. I did not think much of Cathi accusing Joan. In the flash backs, I thought she was a spoilt selfish woman. She says she is not ready for commitment to Steve. But is engaged to another man. That did not make sense. She just wanted a fling. Anyway if he had really loved her he would have gone after her. I am so glad he didn't. He was oh so handsome in uniform too. One of my favourite episodes.
