Ralph Tries the Boards
Hitchcoc22 September 2017
Ralph Kramden is one of the most self assured characters in the history of television. There is nothing that he doesn't claim as his. In this episode, a man agrees to help put on a show to settle the debts of the Raccoon Lodge. Of course, a compliment or two leads our big lunk to become starstruck. Soon he is a cliché for a Clark Gable type, prancing around, giving orders and being temperamental. When a big Hollywood producer shows up, he is certain that his ship has come in. Norton is also great in this one. The ending is a bit sad, but it's in keeping with the series.

Will Ralph go Hollywood
dougdoepke24 July 2017
An amusing but not hilarious entry. Seems there are too many deadbeat Raccoons in the lodge not paying their dues. So the creditors are seizing lodge assets like the-- oh my gosh-- pool table. So now the guys and their ladies auxiliary are going to put on a play that will include guess who. So Ralph puffs out like an overfed frog. The scene with Ed and him rehearsing is pretty funny. But the half-hour is more sober-sided than most, especially when Ralph thinks he may be going to Hollywood. Probably the most lasting feature is Ed's mis-pronunciation of "polo ponies" that comes out something like "pah-lop-a-knees". Thus Ed crowds two words amusingly into one. If I recall correctly, that was something of a joke that made the TV rounds of the time. Anyway, the cast performs expertly, as usual.
