A delightful bit of family time in Italythe spying
UNOhwen17 June 2020
In Italy, Kelly and Scotty's car breaks down in the beautiful Italian countryside. The contessa who's property it is had been the 'mother' for children who's been orphaned during the second world war, and one of her charges is Sophia; the young woman who's Alexander's foster daughter. He's been supporting her for a decade and this is his chance to meet her - just as she's about to marry Gino.

The whole story is a delightful postcard of Italy - the sights and sounds as well as faces which should look familiar to any fan of Italian film (the contessa is Caterina Boratto, who played the mysterious, regal white-haired woman in 81/2, and then played the stunning, mother in Fellini's next film, Giulietta de la Spiriigti - Juliet of The Spirits (which came out about the time this episode aired. (For me - a Fellini's fan, this was my first chance seeing this lovely woman in ANY other than a Fellini's picture. Though she doesn't have much screen time, the drew minutes with her are a delight).

There's nothing in this episode other than this relationship - and by extension, Alexander's family is Kelly's family, and they're both meeting their Italian family.

Seeing them drive on the Italian highways in the tiny little car is just fun, as is everything.

Most episodes are fun to watch for the well-paced plots, the wonderful cinematography and of course, Culp and Cosby, but this one is just a lovely Italian pastry to be enjoyed; nothing weighty, just spending an hour on a lovely Italian holiday with Scotty and Kelly.
