It's not too difficult to figure out who might be the murder suspect in this, the third episode opener from L & O's eleventh season. The closing moments do throw in a surprise, when the suspect's wife, a witness for the prosecution, throws in "monkey wrench" that totally takes ADA McCoy (Sam Waterston) off balance. The ending leaves one wondering who really "done it".
But, unlike the usual L & O fashion, there's not too much of a mystery here.
However, the true fun comes when DA Lewin (Weist) is dining out with Judge Wright (recurring player Ron McLarty) and the latter tries to influence the former about the handling of the case due to the suspect's standing in the community.
Not only do they exchange verbal zingers in the restaurant, they have a combative chat in his chambers.
Lewin proves the winner in both "fights", showing that she was a worthy successor to former DA Adam Schiff, played for 177 episodes by Steven Hill.
