This is one of the few episodes of The Lazarus Man that doesn't include a clue to the protagonist's past.

The acting is pretty good, especially by Anna Gunn as the amoral, opportunistic waitress and whoever played the boy who could fein innocence or reveal cynicism beyond his years, depending on who he was talking to.

Whip Hubley as Randolph didn't do much for me.

The story involves an abandoned mine, a dead miner and a journal that conveniently gives Lazarus a new clue right when he needs one.

The end is surprising and audacious.
