Someone arranges for outlaws Gaff Morgan and Jack Hall to break out of the US territorial prison. Hall is a young man who hero worships the brutal Morgan. The mysterious benefactor leaves them a note telling them to rob the bank at night and then to go to the trading post at Chimney Rock. Hall is wounded in the robbery and can't keep up with Morgan, who leaves him behind. Hall dies soon after the Ranger and Tonto find him, but they learn that their destination is that trading post. Deputy Sawyer accompanies the Ranger there while Tonto and the wounded Sheriff takes Hall's body back to town. At the trading post, a suspicious looking proprietor named Bennett seemed awfully evasive. And Sawyer doesn't look too trustworthy, either. Is Morgan hiding there somewhere? It sure looks like a dangerous situation for The Ranger if Tonto and the sheriff don't arrive soon with the posse.
