I thought this was a great episode all the way around. Love that they had Charlie Matlock again, played by Andy Griffith. Love the old flashbacks and history, and how something that happened back then comes full circle. Also, it's kind of epic that the son whose father is in jail for murder for life, is now accused of killing the son of the man his father murdered.
I think for me the part that raised my eyebrows, was the truth about Sylvia Martell. Brian Martell's mother. The murder in my eyes was premeditated. The woman, enraged after seeing her lover, Jake Kendell, with another woman left and went and got Charlie Matlock's wrench at his garage and then went back to see Jake pretending she forgave and wanted to be with him, but then she killed him with the wrench, then threw the wrench out the window to be found. She planned the murder. She tried to frame Charlie Matlock. She let her husband go to jail for 40 years for it. To top it off she didn't even raise her son and he was left with an aunt and uncle to raise. How is this woman who was cheating on her husband with Jake, a nice, gentle lady? And why does she get a pass? Because she's an old lady now and has allegedly lived with the guilt all these years? Anyway, no outrage, just kind "oh well" from everyone.
There are lots of twists and turns in this one making it complex and interesting. 9/10.
