God couldn't be everywhere. That's why he invented mothers.

Warning: Spoilers
Maude's jealous when Carol dates an old boyfriend of hers (Cesare Danova) and does her best to interfere, but becomes briefly amused when Carol reveals that during what Maude assumed to be an intimate moment called her Maude. Of course, there's more to it than that, but try telling that to the stubborn Maude. Danova is charmingly pompous and very funny in his conceit. More perfect timing in a funny episode that shows exactly why this still stands the test of time as classic comedy.

We see a more human side of Maude
vitoscotti23 September 2021
The first glimpse of the human side of Maude. Previous episodes she was mostly a loudmouth, abrasive, unlikable, robotic liberal. Cesare Danova shined as the senior citizen Casanova even though he was 20 years younger than his Russell character. An episode with lots of marvelous Adrienne Barbeau center stage. The writing so far has been superb.

Carole And Maude's Old Boyfriend

Maude is upset when Carole is dating an older man who also once dated Maude.

A mildly amusing episode. It begins with Florida singing "Zip-A-Dee-Doo-Dah" while Maude and Carole are arguing. One of the funniest scenes is when Maude tells Carole she should not date a 60 year old man and keeps adding to his age. Italian actor Cesare Danova plays the suitor, though he is not given anything funny to do. Carole tells Maude that the man called her Maude during an argument.
